Colm Meaney (born May 30, 1953 in Dublin, Ireland) is an actor widely known for his role as Miles O'Brien in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and most recently as Francis Griffin, Peter Griffin's father, in Family Guy.

He began researching acting whenever he was Fourteen years aged & entered a Abbey Theatre school of Acting when lyceum. He became the member of the Irish National Theatre and spent the next eight years within England, touring by owning many theatre corporations. Meaney's foremost television appearance was within Z-Cars on BBC1 in 1978. He besides guest-starred in shows rather Remington Steele and Moonlighting before embarking on the successful film career; He received the Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor for his role in The Snapper. Recently, he hwhen played the fry recurring role as Cowen, leader of the Genii on the Sci-Fi Channel series Stargate Atlantis.

He has there is no relation to a science fiction writer John Meaney, though the latter does have a brother world health organization is besides known as Colm.
